O Poseidon
by Onyx Mahon
O Poseidon, you who rule the blue-green world
From the darkest depths of ocean bottom
To the undulating surface of the waves,
From continent to continent, shore to shore,
Lord whose kingdom is the bounded sea,
Whose throne is every coral reef within it,
Bless us with unshaken land
And fair and stormless horizons.
You who rise tall from the foam,
Sun glinting on the cruel points of your trident,
Long beard and hair bejeweled with brine,
On hand surely guiding the silvered reins
Of your white ocean-horses, bred to run your realm,
We honor you, and the beauty of your realm.
We honor your strength and your far reach,
Further, as sea touches clouds, than we ever dream.
Aid us in finding he treasure in our own depths
And help us to swim skillfully
In the ocean of feeling within us.
