Spring is coming, the Green Man seeks his Lady, and we’re getting ready for our tenth annual Beltane pagan festival in the wilds of central Massachusetts! As always, Beltane is a camping event; bring your own tent, bedding, camping equipment, bug repellent, flashlights, food, and one dish to donate to the Saturday night feast. Cooking food is allowed at the main campfire and you may bring camp stoves. We provide a beautiful safe pagan space in the woods on private pagan-owned land, workshops, rituals, and a bonfire. (If you or your group would like to hold a workshop or ritual, let us know.) We will be holding the annual Beer-and-Spear Militia Drill, and of course our traditional Maypole ritual at noon Saturday and our Wicker Man that evening.

We are looking for a happy couple to be our Green Man & May Queen!

Please bring one dish, any kind, for the Saturday night potluck feast, and a list of wishes for the coming year to burn in the evening bonfire ritual. We have a latrine, a field kitchen with a little woodstove, and a certain amount of bottled drinking water. Cook at the main campfire, in La's wonderful earth oven, in the small woodstove in the field kitchen, or bring your own camp stove. There is no running water, electricity or refrigeration in the woods. Alcohol is permitted for adults over 21, but it is not provided! Please do not bring illegal drugs or give alcohol to minors. Anyone is found doing so will be evicted. Don't be obnoxious, don't get drunk and disorderly, and don't set the woods on fire. Note to the modest; nudity is permitted in the back field, away from the road, and some people do choose to do so when the weather permits.

Online Registration

Admission is $20 per adult, free for children. All legal minors must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian. ID is required at the door, as alcohol is permitted on site.

The good folks working registration have no way of knowing if you are a dear old friend of Raven & Bella who couldn't possibly be expected to show ID or pay $20. If you think this applies to you, call Raven and Bella before the event so they can leave a note for registration folks. The same goes for folks who are "just stopping in for a few minutes". If you are impoverished and cannot afford $20, you must contact Raven in advance and sign up for a volunteer shift. We are understanding of financial difficulties, but everyone can contribute in some way. If you have not done any of these things, be assured that you will be expected to show ID and pay the registration fee.

Carpool if you can; parking is the only thing in short supply, and four-wheel-drive vehicles with high ground clearance have more flexible parking options. We will be shuttling people to the boat dock, as usual. All cars parked on the road will be ticketed and towed by the local police. (Their rule, not ours.) Please unload your things in the driveway, and wait for a shuttle vehicle. RVs are permitted only by prior arrangement.

The ritual field and camping area are a five-minute walk from the road, down a somewhat uneven and occasionally muddy path. No cars or RVs are permitted down this path, and you are responsible for bringing yourself and your gear to and from the site. Unfortunately, due to the condition of our secondhand farm vehicles, we cannot guarantee any motorized transportation for the camping gear. If you have a walking disability or other special needs, please contact us well in advance so we can verify whether the tractor will be running.

Registration opens Friday at 2 p.m. and closes at 11 p.m., and reopens Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Please arrange to arrive during those times. If you cannot arrive before 11 p.m. Friday night, wait until Saturday morning. (If you are stuck on the road and will only be a little late, please call us and someone will wait up for you. Otherwise, the driveway and parking area may be blocked off.) If you're coming Saturday, show up before 11 a.m.! The Maypole ritual is at 12 noon so no one will be at the road to meet anyone from 11 a.m. onward. Besides, you don't want to miss the Maypole. If you do not wish to camp, consider staying at one of the hotels or motels in the area, finding a Bed & Breakfast, or if you are local, coming for just Saturday. If you'd like to come just for the evening ritual and bonfire, please call ahead.

To pre-register, mail payment to Raven Kaldera, Cauldron Farm, 12 Simond Hill Rd. Hubbardston MA 01452, or register online. Cash only at the door. For more information, contact Raven at cauldronfarm@hotmail.com or call 978-928-4198.

Merry May!
